About Michele Dunaway

Michele Dunaway is a bestselling contemporary romance author of over 40 novels featuring happily-ever-afters set in small towns with cookie stores and wine, or on ranches under wide open skies, or in the hockey arena, or even the big city. With a career spanning more than 26 years, Michele describes herself as a woman who does far too much and never wants to stop. A former English and journalism teacher, she’s a proud mom of two grown daughters. Michele also shares her home with far too many rescued cats—who, of course, completely rule the roost and now have their own Instagram page: @thedunawaycats

Michele always dreamed of writing and being published, and she made that dream come true when she sold her first romance novel after an editor appointment at the Romance Writers of America (RWA) national convention. Since then, she’s sold over 1.8 million globally and been translated into over eight languages, including Japanese manga. Describing herself as a woman who does way too much and never wants to stop, Michele retired from an award-winning high school English and journalism teaching career, but being retired only means she’s been traveling the world, including stops in England, Ireland, Italy, Germany, France, Singapore and Japan. Stateside she’s hit Hawaii, Florida, Oregon, Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Texas, and Kentucky, among others. She describes the airport lounge as her happy place as it means she’s going somewhere.

Because Michele believes in service, she’s the 2026 president-elect of Novelists, Inc. In addition to her previous work on the Journalism Education Association Board of Directors, Michele is a past president and former newsletter editor of Missouri Romance Writers of America; the past president and former newsletter editor of PASIC (RWA’s Published Authors Special Interest Chapter); and the past-president of the League of Romance Writers, the former West Houston chapter of RWA. She is also a current member of Greater Detroit Romance Writers and Georgia Romance Writers. She is also an adjunct college professor and nationwide presenter.
